Hauling and Boxing
AKA "Travesties of keys and customer service."

So this morning was to be day 1 of dedicated moving. I say "was to be" because I summarily locked my keys in the car after putting just 1 box on the back seat. Go me. On the plus side, the extra time has afforded me the opportunity to pack up the PC, clean dishes, shred some credit crap and sort out/prep my almighty electronics junk drawers. I guess all in all there was no time wasted, but still.

I also just spent some time on the phone with Comcast and UHaul. The Comcast calls were funny. After getting (intentionally?) disconnected 4 times after choosing the "Transfer or Downgrade Service" option from the automated CSR, I finally get a live line - with a 50 minute wait time. Priceless. UHaul wasn't much better, either. First, their website hangs for 15 minutes while processing my order. Second, after 2 minutes I called Customer Service and was still on hold by the time my web order finally processed. Is it pitiful that this made me lol? Also, and perhaps more importantly, is it sad that I just tried to slide "lol" into a monologue?

Moral of the story? Keep your keys in your pocket ("jinglin', baby") and your CSR bots off my phone.

It is done. We closed yesterday (a bit late, but still)! Flooring dudes came in this morning and started ripping up 75% of the 1st floor... floor. Exciting and dusty times. Also bought paint today - very happy with the colors. Only caveat? Two 5-gallon tubs of paint/primer sure are heavy.

Have to drive down to Virginia on Monday for the day. Just the day. Rather unpleasant, but such is life. Just gotta get it done.

Sitting here in the 15th floor, overlooking Tyson's Corner and enjoying some cheese and crackers. Work thus far has been uneventful. I'm still waiting on my aircard and laptop, so it's been a challenge keeping connected and productive. That being said, the work itself is interesting (and voluminous), so I can't complain.

Friday brings our settlement date on the house, and both the lady and I are very excited. We have just about everything settled and lined up for the move, so hopefully all goes well. Can't wait to see what Paco thinks of his new home. To all those who offered to help with the move subsequent to close, thanks again! We'll be sure to keep you guys fed and hydrated during, and intend to treat you guys out sometime thereafter.

After months of enjoying watching all your login attempts get brutally rejected by my site, I have FINALLY gotten around to putting something up in its stead. Everything's pretty straight-forward, as you can see. This space will be solely dedicated to hosting blog posts by myself, as well as collecting any and all comments (from both anonymous and registered users). Some posts will be visible to registered users only, but as you can tell by the Sign Up process, it's not real hard to get an account here.

There's really not much else to it. I may play around with Picasa and/or some other gadgets' APIs in the future (the fruits of which will appear as new buttons on the top nav bar), but don't hold your breath.

Oh, one note of caution: The site itself has no user settings page. I.E. the only way to change any of the information you provided at the time you created your account would be to ask me to do so (from the rear, if you will). I say this mainly because you are free to hotlink whatever user icons you'd like from wherever you'd like. Just keep in mind that once you click Sign Up, said icon is yours to stay. I'll probably add some account management features in the future, but for the short term you're stuck with whatever you pick.
